This is a private reference site, not a Carteret County government office. It cannot confirm custody, release anyone, post bond, or pull an official booking record. Contact the responsible agency directly for an official answer.
Where to Ask About Records
Carteret’s Sheriff page identifies John R. Nyberg as sheriff; the Sheriff’s Office remains the official source for county custody and booking records.
Use the office that created or currently holds the record. The Sheriff’s Records Division handles arrest reports and booking prints, including mugshot requests. The Carteret County Detention Center is at 306 Craven Street, Beaufort, NC 28516, and its inmate-information number is 252-504-4832. The Sheriff’s Office and Records address is 304 Craven Street, Beaufort, NC 28516.

For the public-record process, use the county request page and its online form. The county says electronic responses are often free, while paper reproduction follows North Carolina law. It does not post a mugshot-specific fee or guaranteed response time.

Other Custody Systems
The NCDAC offender search is for state prison and supervision records, not a routine Carteret booking. Use the BOP locator for sentenced federal custody and the ICE locator for current immigration detention. USMS does not publish a public federal mugshot roster.
For a warrant, contact the Carteret Warrant Division at 252-728-8400 ext. 8810 during Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; after hours, the Sheriff FAQ directs callers to dispatch at 252-726-1911. For anonymous information about a wanted person or unsolved crime, use Crime Stoppers at 252-726-4636.
For a fuller search sequence, use the Carteret County booking guide. For city-specific routing, use the Morehead City, Beaufort, and Newport pages.
