Official Carteret routes include the inmate-search explanation, Sheriff Records page, and public-record request page.

About This Site

What This Carteret Guide Does

Carteret’s Sheriff page identifies John R. Nyberg as sheriff; the Sheriff’s Office remains the official source for county custody and booking records.

This is a private reference site about Carteret County booking records, arrest information, and custody routes. It is not a government office. The goal is to explain which official source handles which question, because the Carteret County Detention Center, Carteret County Sheriff’s Office, municipal police departments, North Carolina courts, and North Carolina Department of Adult Correction do not hold the same record.

The county’s current inmate portal is the starting point for current county custody. The Sheriff’s Records Division is the documented route for arrest reports and booking prints. The North Carolina court portal is for case activity and disposition. The NCDAC offender search covers state prison and supervision. Federal and immigration systems have their own boundaries.

What Readers Find Here

Pages are organized around Carteret’s actual systems and its three mapped cities. They explain the county roster, recent-days query, records request, warrant contact, Most Wanted app finding, local news landscape, and court follow-up.

  • The Carteret booking and mugshot path, including the official portal and Sheriff Records Division.
  • Most Wanted and warrant-check guidance with Crime Stoppers safety instructions.
  • Crime News coverage from official releases, local outlets, and regional reporting.
  • Morehead City, Beaufort, and Newport agency pages with their different records and feed findings.
  • State DOC, federal, ICE, retention, expunction, and public-record context.

The site does not host a gallery of booking photos. It points readers toward originating agencies and asks them to verify current information there.

What This Site Cannot Do

This site has no connection to Carteret County government, the Sheriff’s Office, CCDC, Morehead City Police, Beaufort Police, Newport Police, NCDAC, or any other agency. It cannot release or transfer a person in custody, confirm a release, post bond, arrange a visit, send funds, or pull an official record for a reader. Only the responsible office can confirm current custody, charges, or release information.

  • It does not provide legal advice.
  • It does not guarantee that an address, phone number, fee, or process remains current.
  • It does not reproduce booking-photo galleries or private records.
  • It does not decide whether a charge is true or whether a person is guilty.

Use the originating agency, the Carteret Clerk of Court, or the state and federal locator named for the custody state when accuracy matters.

Search Partner Disclosure

Some search boxes on the site are supplied by third-party partners. Those providers set their own pricing, terms, results, and data practices. If a visitor chooses a paid tool through a referral link, the site may receive a fee that helps support the reference pages. That relationship does not give this site control over the partner’s results or promise access to a government record.

Note: Carteret County’s official jail, Sheriff Records, police, court, and NCDAC sources remain the proper places to verify a record.
